“ It takes two to tango…”

Does it take two to be lonely?

An impossible, improbable couple with whom everything could become possible.
To proceed a , contract and counter-action is necessary.

“I do not
remember names.
Only bodies. I read bodies.”

Monotango Stereo looks on the dual actions of two single dancing bodies in a dance for two, the guiding and following part in all of us, the feminine and masculine, and the dialogue between them.

The language of the performance is a research and challenge between  dancetheatre and tango in which we seek the unexpected and the surprising within the obsessive, tight structure of tango.
The question is how to emerge from a static conflict to a communication that moves?

The performance examines some of the clichés of tango in order to take them apart; other elements – the elegance and precision of movement contact are taken into consideration and developed in another way.

Monotango Stereo invites the public after the performance to participate in a milonga (dance-evening) on stage. And the bar is open.

Invitation to preview friday 26 february 2010 – 9 pm
We cordially invite you to our open rehearsal of PHIMALE – A MONOTANGO, a dance-theatre performance in cooperation between Berlin, Oslo and Rome.

Kollatino Underground
Via Georges Sorel 10, 00177 Roma

I do not
remember names.
Only bodies. I read bodies.
Every body is an open theatre.
PHIMALE opens the search for ourselves and for a counterpart, the individual loneliness and the endless repetition of the play of gender roles. What is identity? What makes a man a man, and woman a woman? The performer draws biographical elements and combines danced and told stories of different encounters and separations.

Life inscribes its history in a body. Face, mimic, gesture, posture and motion pattern are the texture of a lived life. What does our body tell about us? What do the others know? What do they read within our body, our movements? Do we know our own biography?

Reahearsals Rome February 2010 – day 12

Saturday trying out composition of scenes, twice 3 in a row, to find connections and transitions – some seem to be working, and we found a possible beginning. And we have have a possible composition of the whole show to rehearse the next week.

Martin has left us with 3 lightbulbs for stage front, the middle in version “aufzug”(possible to take regulate), and general light.

Emiliano trying out projections and idea with overtitles.

Olaf is with us. “I can provide sounds for emergency, if electricity goes down.” If we behave well.

Sunday, today, day off.
